Corona Virus and Psychology –
Number of people affected by Corona virus are increasing day by day across the world and here in Maharashtra and Pune. We are not different, Government agencies and people are trying their best to control it but still we see the number of cases are rising. People are making changes in their lifestyle to get it prevented. Everyone is affected but most affected are Students and working population (service sector)
Malls, hotels, restaurants, theaters are closed, organizations are telling their employees to work from home, there are restrictions on social gathering affecting marriages and family functions, stock market is down, people can’t travel or they have to cancel their travel plans, financial losses are there as business is down - so in short lot of people are getting mentally affected by this and in few cases they don’t know how to deal with this.
Some common psychological problems are – Anxiety (what will happen to me and my close ones, will it catch me?), Depression (don’t know when this is going to stop, what if something happens to my parents), Stress (I am not able to cope with this and I am not productive – will this affect my performance) , Obsessive Compulsion (washing hands for longer time, taking bath for longer time, Frequently changing cloths will save me and my close ones)
So keep yourself meaningfully busy and make best use of the time you are getting – like spending time with family members, doing on-line classes, call friends and relatives, Read books, Meditation and exercising at home, Yoga, Singing, Painting, Music etc….be patient - be focused, plan your day, think about present. Every phase comes and goes...Take care of yourself and others.
